Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Has Incredible Midnight Box Office Opening

Michael Bay directed Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen grossed a estimated $16 million from midnight showings across the U.S.

This midnight box office gross marks the second best midnight opening gross, behind only The Dark Knight's $18.5 million from midnight showings.

Revenge of the Fallen's midnight gross is all the more impressive considering that it was released on Wednsday early morning, Tuesday late night, vs. The Dark Knight which opened on a Friday a day known to have better box office numbers.

Transformers 2 was shown at about 3,000 theaters / runs, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, with some later shows to accomadate the sell outs theaters were seeing from high demand.

These Transformers 2 box office numbers cement the fact that Revenge of the Fallen's opening day box office numbers will be massive.

This is the best midnight showing ever for a Michael Bay movie, and is sure to set a Michael Bay box office record, as well as some box office records of it's own.
