Transformers 2 Box Office Actuals are finally in, after much speculation on whether or not Revenge of the Fallen would overtake The Dark Knight for the 5 day box office record.

Transformers 2 box office actuals during it's first 5 day day run is exactly $200,077,255, and it's 3 day weekend total is $108,966,307.

With these box office actuals we now know for certain that Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen, that it did not overtake The Dark Knight, the current record holder, for best 5 day box office gross in box office history.

The Dark Knight broke the record when it was released to the box office last year, and grossed exactly $203,773,518 in it's first five days of release.

Early reports for Transformers 2 box office estimates indicated that it failed in overtaking The Dark Knight for the 5 day box office record, but with the chance of higher numbers when the actuals were reported on Monday. Instead, when the actuals were released today, it showed that estimates were actually $1-2 million too high, confirming reports of it's failure to overtake The Dark Knight.

Still, as previously stated in a earlier post, in terms of Per Theater Averages, Transformers 2 beat the The Dark Knight by a small margin. For more information on this, refer to our previous post: Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen Transforms Summer Box Office with $201.2 Million 5 Day Box Office Haul.

Although Revenge of the Fallen did not take the top spot for Top 5-Day Grosses, it's box office numbers should in no way be undermined. When, The Dark Knight was released last year, it took the box office by storm, easily beat dozens of box office records amidst it's hype and a plethora of positive reviews. It's box office feat(s) was something that many industry analysts and experts predicted wouldn't be touched by another movie, at least for quite some time.

Transformers 2 defied those predictions and beat all analyst and industry expectations, even in the midst of many unkind and unforgiving words from critics around the world. In addition, it scored the Best Wednesday Box Office Op
ening as well as the Second Best Opening Day Gross overall with it's $62 million. It is second only to The Dark Knight's $67.2 million, and it had the benefit of being released on a Friday.

Transformers 2 incredible $109 million 3 day gross as well as it's $200.1 million 5 day gross came from approximately 10,00 screens at about 4,234 locations from North American Theaters. Actuals have not yet been released on how much IMAX exactly contributed to Revenge of the Fallen's gross. Estimates, though, put it at about a record $14.4 million at 169 IMAX location / screens. We'll post when the actuals are released.

At the Forigen box office, the Transformers sequel didn't disappoint, taking in an estimated $186.1 million, nearly half of it's predecessors total foreign box office haul. According to Paramount, Revenge of of the Fallen
outperformed the original's opening weekend by 71% in the U.K. and 13% in Japan.

Paramount's national exit polling revealed several notable facts. While the first "Transformers" film, released in 2007, skewed 60-40 toward men over women, the split in the new film was more even at 54% male, 46% female. More than 90% of those surveyed said the new movie was as good as or better than the first film. About 67% of moviegoers polled said the film was "excellent," an even better score than that generated by Paramount's "Star Trek," one of the year's best-reviewed movies.

We'll be posting a numbers version of this post directly, as well as how it ranks among certain box office records. Updates will be posted as more numbers and news are posted for this movie.
